Brighter Christmas Toy Drive
Every year since I can remember, my mom and I have donated toys to the Brighter Christmas of Tracy. This year was a little harder due to Covid-19, because there were guidelines that had to be followed. In addition to toys, they were collecting canned foods to give to the families in need during these difficult times. Since less people are leaving their homes these days where they would usually see the volunteers for Brighter Christmas, I reached out to them and offered to promote their toy drive. They were very gracious and accepted my offer, so I worked on creating a post for the Tracy High Instagram too share and spread the word. It took place in the Safeway parking lot in Tracy, California from 9am to 1pm on Saturday, December 12th. After the Tracy High Instagram posted the details about the event, I asked many of my friends to repost it on their story and donate as well. When the day came, my mom, a few friends and I went and donated lots of toys and some canned foods, and the volunteers were very thankful. They ended up getting many toys and lots of food which was a great success.
Book Drive
When I was in 7th grade, I collected books to donate to Interfaith Ministries here in Tracy, California. I asked friends and family to donate any books they had, and they were more then willing to help. I ended up collecting more than 60 books and I dropped them off at Interfaith Ministries. I do not know exactly when this event took place in 2018, but I worked on gathering the books for about a couple months. They were super grateful for all the work and effort I put into making this happen, and is truly an experience I will never forget.
